Agents Arrest 4 Traveling with Marijuana

TUCSON, Ariz. – Border Patrol agents from the Casa Grande station arrested four U.S. citizens Tuesday after finding more than 175 pounds of marijuana and a loaded handgun during a secondary inspection at the immigration checkpoint south of Casa Grande.

Agents working at the Federal Route 15 immigration checkpoint referred a Chevy sedan for a secondary inspection after a Border Patrol canine alerted to an odor it was trained to detect being emitted from the vehicle. As a result, agents uncovered seven bales of marijuana, valued in excess of $88,000, and a loaded .38-caliber revolver.

Agents seized the drugs, weapon and sedan. The four adult subjects, two men and two women, will be prosecuted by Homeland Security Investigations for contraband smuggling.
