Illegal marijuana grow uncovered following home invasion call

Fresno County Sheriff’s Deputies received a call about a home invasion robbery – but wound up uncovering an illegal marijuana grow.

Deputies say three men knocked on a door a home in the area of American and Locan before 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

Someone inside the home opened the door, and the men forced their way inside.

They had guns and one was wearing a mask.

The three residents said they were tied up while the men ordered them to give them money.

The men were also looking for one person in particular, but that person was not home at the time.

They ransacked the property and left a short time later.

Once they freed themselves, the residents called deputies for help.

When deputies arrived, they found three open, refrigerated box trailers on the property.

Deputies say they found around 100 live marijuana plants inside—along with clippings, that were in the drying phase.

At this point, it’s not clear whether the armed men stolen any of the marijuana.

So far, no arrests have been made related to either investigation.
