Lemon Kush – Pucker Up & Inhale Deep

When it comes to strain reviews, I usually like to check out what is new and popular in the market.  I don’t have the luxury of having it shipped to me for review, so I’m generally forced to pick whatever is readily available in my area.  Now, being a smoker for many moons, one might have expected that I would have tried Lemon Kush in the past.  I’ve lived a sheltered life apparently, because no, I haven’t tried it before.  Lemon Kush is still a favorite among many but like everything in life, I have to learn things the hard way.  A fresh review of an old classic.

So I got my container home, and the smell of lemon citrus was emanating from before I even removed the cap.  I pull out a bud to inspect it, it reminds me of a citrus Blue Dream.  I know what you’re going to say, there is no comparison between the two.  But look closer, the density, the fire red hairs, even the trichomes are similar in consistency.  Wow, that smell, though.  The pungent lemony aroma made me pull my nose away for a quick second to be able to appreciate it.  This strain, like it’s Kush brothers and sisters has a very rich earthy undertone, but it isn’t dank or sticky in any way.

I said adieu to my new friend and placed it firmly in the grinder for an even consistency.  While dry and somewhat dense on the outside, there was a proper amount of moisture in the middle which will allow for an even smoke.  Some like their weed drier and some feel that a bit of moisture can add to the density of the smoke.  I tend to stay neutral in this argument.  A small level of moisture to me represents fresh weed, period.

Ok, now for the ever important smoke…bottoms up.

So, wow, this is truly a hybrid strain.  I noted an instant brain high along with a tingling sort of relaxation in my arms and legs.  The density of the smoke was just about perfect and tasted instantly of lemons but just as upfront as the citrus is the dirty taste in the back of your mouth that I have since deemed “The After Kush.”

After fifteen minutes, the strain seems to have taken full effect, and it’s not as “mind-high” as I had thought it would be.  I can say that there is a pretty solid balance between the effects of the body/brain highs.  A general wash of relaxation came over me followed by a pleasant demeanor.  The only side effect that I experienced was some dry mouth, and that is fairly standard for a hybrid strain.

At the thirty-minute mark, I am disappointed to say that I did not get the munchies.  I mean, I ordered a pizza like an hour ago, and I don’t even want it.  Wait…Yes, yes I do.
