With Uber battling a string of critical errors at the executive level, primary competitor Lyft is taking advantage of the sudden stretch of open highway to flex their pink mustache muscles.
Oh, you’re wondering why you just read about the battle for supremacy within the ridesharing vertical on Marijuana.com? My bad, that’s a totally valid question. Perhaps it is because Lyft, in their infinite wisdom, has decided to team up with Taco Bell to silence the seemingly endless debate on stoned driving and THC nanograms and modified breathalyzer devices (oh my).
By eliminating some of the most common components in many stoned (or drunk) driving incidents — such as driving with the carnal desire for food that trumps all other decision-making skills — Lyft and Taco Bell could truly revolutionize the global impaired driving crisis faster than Elon Musk’s autonomous cars could ever dream of doing.
Did we mention the free tacos yet?
Lyft and Taco Bell announced their new partnership yesterday to universal excitement from drivers and riders alike — not to mention shareholders.
Taco Bell and Lyft are two like-minded brands at the forefront of technology and innovation. This extraordinary partnership infuses the culinary world into the ride-sharing cultural movement, making a late-night run for tacos more convenient — and fun — than ever.
A brand new “Taco Mode” within the Lyft application will end the dreaded practice of begging your driver incessantly to stop at the drive-thru for your late night taco fix. And by taco, I obviously mean Chalupas and those twisty cinnamon things.
Now, passengers will be able to simply hit a button on their Lyft app to let their driver know that you two will be collectively “sending it” to Taco Bell.
Drivers will have to opt-in to Taco Mode before it shows up as an option to their respective riders, so the conversation may still happen occasionally. But what driver is turning down a tip of the Cheesy Gordita Crunch variety? Riders will be happy to spare a taco or two considering the ever-gracious Bell is hooking them up with a complimentary Doritos Locos Taco just for trying out Lyft’s new taco-fied mode of transportation.
This doesn’t even include the extra free taco you can score if you tell your Lyft driver you have to use the restroom while you’re in the drive-thru line just to run inside and play the little plastic neon coin castle game on the counter.
The new Taco Mode is available for riders to try in Orange County, California where weed is legal and readily available. Taco Mode is only available between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m.
Only one request, dearest Lyft and Taco Bell: can one of the future updates incorporate a Weedmaps Mode where we stop and pick up enough product from my local dispensary that I feel zero percent of this looming stomach ache? Thanks in advance.
