NYC Diesel – The Buds Of Liberty

nyc-diesel-the-buds-of-liberty

Another strain rolled in for me to review for our wonderful readers.  This time, NYC Diesel wants a shot at my top five.  I am quivering with delight just sitting here looking at the container.  This enticing looking strain is a cross between Sour Diesel and a Hawaiian/Afghan male plant.  This hybrid may seem a bit much for beginners with a 22% THC concentration, but one must judge for oneself…must one?

NYC Diesel doesn’t seem to be the most pungent strain of marijuana on the market, but hey, don’t judge a book and all right?  It actually has a nice aromatic balance to it.  This diesel is earthy, and a bit citrusy up front, followed by a sweet almost rose scent that raises the bar.  The earthy diesel flavor of this is a favorite among many, but sometimes it turns me off a bit.  Not tonight, though.

Unlike other strains reviewed on TheLaughingGrass, these buds are less dense and contain some extra moisture.  On the bright side, the density of the smoke will be a bit heavier and stickier; something I prefer.  Upon breaking into one of the buds, the moisture became a beautiful sticky dank that I love so much.  When I put NYC Diesel through the grinder, I was met with an unexpectedly pungent diesel aroma.  I was surprised how much the grind increased the scent of this strain, it probably more than doubled.

NYC Diesel into the bowl, and 3, 2, 1, ignition.

As I suspected, heavier smoke and an instant gratification for those tobacco users out there.  I feel like I just had a cigarette.  The flavors of NYC Diesel are also a bit different from the smell.  DIESEL, I tasted DIESEL.  No citrus, no rosy after-tones, just DIESEL.

After the initial smoke, I am daydreaming more and more.  I’m not sure how I feel about being a space cadet right now, with a deadline looming, but it is definitely one of the most uplifting strains that I have tried.  Since I am having a rush of totally random thoughts, I’ll share some with you.  First, “Jonathan Livingston Seagull” is the worst book I have ever read.  Second, ‘there is no spoon.’  Finally, if a tree falls on a bear in the woods, can you hear it shit itself?  I told you…Random.

At the fifteen-minute mark, I can attest to the hybrid nature of NYC Diesel.  A very uplifting head-high followed by a slow onset relaxation washed over my body.  It really didn’t seem to present itself with jitters or spasms in a particular extremity, but an easiness just seems to take your body into a gentle embrace as time flows.

At the thirty-minute mark, the headache that I have been sporting for most of the day is gone, so that’s a real plus.  I’m also not a couch potato, this strain makes me want to go out for a walk.  This strain would be an excellent choice in the treatment of depression and anxiety, while at the same time, acting as a pain reliever.  Newer marijuana smokers out there may want to avoid any activity initially until you know how NYC Diesel works in your body.  This is one of the more potent hybrid strains that remain Sativa dominant, so you will experience both a brain-high and a body-high.
