Police seek West Dundee man charged with growing marijuana in basement

Authorities are searching for a West Dundee man who has been charged with running a marijuana cultivation operation in his basement, according to a news release from the Kane County State’s Attorney.

Vladimir Srebnik, 37, of the 1300 block of Chadwick Court in West Dundee, was charged with unauthorized production of cannabis sativa plants, a class 2 felony, and obstructing justice, a class 4 felony.

According to the state’s attorney, Srebnik knowingly and unlawfully produced and possessed more than 50 but fewer than 200 marijuana plants in his residence, and he knowingly destroyed evidence of a crime.

Srebnik’s whereabouts are unknown and a warrant for his arrest has been issued, according to the state’s attorney. His bail was set at $100,000.

If convicted of the most serious offense, Srebnik would face a sentence of probation or between three and seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
