With recreational legalize marijuana in Massachusetts, New England Cannabis Convention centre returns this weekend April 22-23

Months after Massachusetts voters voted to broadly legalize marijuana for recreational use for adults over the age of 21, the New England Cannabis Convention is returning to Boston.

Set to take place at the Hynes Convention Center on Saturday, April 22, and Sunday, April 23. Smoking, dabbing or vaping is not allowed anywhere inside the convention center, organizers say.

Organizers add a medical marijuana card isn’t required to attend, but you have to be over 18 years old unless you’re there with a parent or guardian.

Doors open at 10 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. both days.

The convention comes as Massachusetts lawmakers work to overhaul the new marijuana law.

The event is expected to feature dozens of speakers and experts, more than 175 exhibitors and live demonstrations on how to infuse home-cooked meals with cannabis.

What the future holds for medical marijuana is also on the convention agenda. Massachusetts voters legalized marijuana for medical use in 2012.

In-door homegrowing of marijuana is another topic. A 45-minute demonstration promises to answer beginner questions about how much space is needed, what kind of equipment and fertilizer works best and how to stay in compliance with Massachusetts laws.

The convention will also feature a 45-minute demonstration on warehouse-style growing.

“Grow space real estate is red hot in Mass & Maine in anticipation of legal large scale cultivation,” the convention says on its website, in a reference to the other New England state that legalized marijuana in November 2016.

Catherine Lewis, the founder of Homegrown Healthcare of Maine, is the keynote speaker for Saturday.
