Trump Considers Replacing AG Jeff Sessions with Giuliani

Dejected, petulant and ready to lash out, Trump’s inner circle on Monday floated the notion that the president was considering replacing Attorney General Jeff Sessions with America’s Mayor – A.K.A. Rudy Giuliani.

Offended Sessions recused himself from the Russian investigation, Trump allegedly floated the notion of tapping New York City’s ex-Mayor to fill the vacancy.

Giuliani: blunt and to the point

Seemingly anxious to avoid serving in Trump’s White House, Giuliani quickly shot down Monday’s trial balloon, informing CNN“there is no truth to a report by Axio.” Ostensibly removing himself from further consideration as the head of the Department of Justice (DOJ), Giuliani was also quick to point out to CNN that the Attorney General “made the right decision under the rules of the Justice Department” in recusing himself.

At odds with Giuliani’s assertion, POTUS ranted to the New York Times last week, complaining that “Sessions should never have recused himself, and if he was going to recuse himself, he should’ve told me before he took the job and I would have picked somebody else.”

Rudy Giuliani and Jeff Sessions do share a political philosophy, at least when it comes to marijuana policy. During his seven-year reign of terror as the Mayor of New York City, Giuliani’s administration was responsible for the arrest of more than 50,000 people for marijuana.

Attorney General Sessions has provided no indication he plans on resigning anytime soon.

As Robert Muller’s probe into Russian collusion cranks up the heat on the Trump Administration, the new White House communications director, Anthony Scaramucci, noted it might be time for Sessions and Trump to “hash out” their differences in private.

Despite Sessions being one of Trump’s earliest and most strident supporters, the President of the United States continues to vent his frustration over his Attorney General and has yet to request a heart-to-heart with the “beleaguered” Jeff Sessions.
