A 6-year-old Nampa boy was reportedly given marijuana while visiting homes on Halloween.

Nampa Police says the mother of the boy called Nampa Police Tuesday night after she found the pot inside his candy bag.

“I was like I need to check your candy dude,” said the mother. “He’s six years old and you know they don’t understand how to wait and when I looked in there that was the first thing I’d seen. It was just sitting right on top.”

Officers say the mother and child went trick-or-treating in the Sterling Meadows Subdivision off Lone Star Road between North Middleton Road and Midland Boulevard and visited several homes.

“It seems to be a pretty isolated incident,” said Sergeant Tim Riha. “Hopefully parents were checking candy like they should be, the bags and making sure that the kids aren’t getting things that they’re not supposed to. Thankfully in this case mom was doing what she was supposed to do and then reported it to us.”

It’s unknown which house provided the candy.

Nampa Police says it’s investigating and trying to determine who gave the boy the marijuana. Anyone with information is asked to call 208-343-COPS.
