Appearing on “The View,” Bell shuts down the backlash she got for identifying marijuana as her drug of choice.

Kristen Bell has zero time for her haters.

The “Good Place” star was the subject of some backlash after she opened up to Marc Maron about her occasional marijuana use in front of sober husband Dax Shepard earlier this month. But, while appearing on “The View” Wednesday, she made it clear she doesn’t waste time on negativity.

“I just found out about this, by the way,” she said when Abby Huntsman brought up some of the flack she got online. “If you’re not using your critical thinking skills and you can’t give me the benefit of the doubt in a situation and you just come at me, I don’t have time for that, I just don’t. I respond to positive things.”

Bell explained that she actually heard about the backlash from Shepard, as he relayed how he defended her online. “He said he lost his privilege to drink, I didn’t,” she explained. “He’s like, that would be like asking a diabetic spouse, don’t ever eat sugar in front of me.”

She went on to say that if Dax were in his first year of sobriety, she’d maybe handle things differently. “But if he sees me smoke a vape once a month, he’s not giving me signals that he’s going out on a three day bender.”

Noting that marijuana use is legal in California, where she resides, Bell also said she believes in the “healing properties of CBD” and uses it every day for anxiety.

“It scares people and it’s okay that it scares people, but again, come into the conversation with critical thinking and ready to analyze it,” she said. “Don’t come in with like, ‘That’s bad,’ no one’s going to have a conversation with you if that’s your point of view.”

“I’m not a scary person. Sorry guys, I smoke weed, I like it, it’s nice,” added Bell. “I don’t like do it around my kids, but I also don’t think it’s a very dangerous thing.”

During the interview, she also explained her husband’s hilarious reaction to her Instagram post in support of his 14 years of sobriety.

“First of all he said thank you … and then he saw all the news coverage going, ‘Kristen congratulates Dax in heartfelt message, she loves him so much,'” she said. “He’s scrolling through Twitter and he goes, ‘Yet again, you’re getting credit for something I did. You’re getting credit for my 14 years of sobriety!”

Appearing on Maron’s “WTF” podcast, Bell said, “Weed rules. Weed is my drug of choice, for sure.”

“I can’t do it around my kids, which is a phenomenal amount of hours each week. Once a week, if I’m just exhausted and we’re about to sit down and watch ’60 Minutes,’ why not?” she explained.

“[Dax] doesn’t have a problem with anyone else partaking in anything, provided within reason, that they’re not acting like a complete shmuck,” she also said at the time. “He’s fine if people do things. He likes drugs and alcohol. He just is aware that he lost his privilege with them because he can’t handle it. His brain does not have the chemistry to handle it.”‘

In her sobriety tribute post, she wrote, “I know how much you loved using. I know how much it got in your way. And I know, because I saw, how hard you worked to live without it.”

“I will forever be in awe of your dedication, and the level of fierce moral inventory you perform on yourself, like an emotional surgery, every single night,” she continued. “You never fail to make amends, or say sorry when its needed. You are always available to guide me, and all of our friends, with open ears and tough love when it’s needed most.”

“I’m so proud that you have never been ashamed of your story, but instead shared it widely, with the hope it might inspire someone else to become the best version of themselves,” she added. “You have certainly inspired me to do so.”
