Broadview Heights couple arrested with marijuana and pills North Royalton Police Blotter

Drug abuse, Sprague Road: On Aug. 13, police observed a silver Chrysler Town and Country idling behind the CVS on Sprague Road. While talking to the Broadview Heights driver, the officer smelled marijuana.

The man said he pulled over because he thought he was going to vomit. The driver said he and his passenger were returning from the Norwalk racetrack. The man denied smoking or having any marijuana.

While searching the car, police found a pipe and prescription bottle with marijuana. The man admitted to ownership of the marijuana, but denied smoking that day. He was arrested for drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia.

As for his driver, the officer found pills inside of her purse. It turned out the woman didn’t have a prescription for Tramadol. She was charged with drug possession.

Fraud, Hampton Club Drive: On Aug. 11, police were dispatched to the Hampton Apartments after a resident discovered his wallet was either stolen or lost, and somebody fraudulently used his credit card.

The man noticed someone charged $11 to his debit card for an Amazon.com purchase. It turned out a family member had found the wallet. Later in the day the officer talked to the man, who said he didn’t want to pursue the issue.

Identity theft, Spruce Run Drive: On Aug. 11, a Spruce Run Drive resident came to the police station to report he had been contacted by Macy’s about a fraudulent attempt to purchase merchandise.

The man denied attempting to make the purchase. Macy’s cancelled his account. Two days later the same man was contacted by his credit card company about an attempt to withdrawal money from his account in California.

Finally, the resident said Costco called him to see if he was trying to open a credit card account in California. The man wanted to have a police report on file regarding the incidents.
