Buds And Brushes Art Classes Let You Smoke Weed And Paint

Buds and Brushes is one of the first weed-friendly paint classes in Arizona. The class was created by two veterans, Jen Christiansen and Ricardo Pereyda, who wanted to facilitate a close-knit community of cannabis users in Tucson. Attendees not only paint, but learn which strains work best for them.

Cannabis is currently only medicinally legal in Arizona so Buds and Brushes is only available to those with medical cannabis cards. Those without cards can still paint, but won’t be able to smoke.

Buds and Brushes is working with advocates toward legalizing recreational weed in Arizona and adding it to the ballot in the upcoming election.

“We have other veteran brother and sisters in states where it’s not medicinally legal at all,” Pereyda explained. “We want out fellow patients, to be able to come in, and not feel like they’re going to be judged, stigmatized, or put down for their decisions as adults.”

Buds and Brushes is the only weed art therapy class in Tucson, and the founders hope the class can become a haven for people visiting from other states where cannabis use is still restrictive.
