Canfield crime activity: Driver tries to avoid arrest by handing over weed, police say

4:44 p.m. – N. Broad Street, police said a semi hauling an excavator side-swiped a telephone pole near the Canfield Green and didn’t stop after the accident.

Sunday, January 6

4:21 p.m. – 100 block of Canterbury Ct., police said a car backing out of a driveway hit a parked Canfield Joint Fire District pickup truck responding to an emergency. No one was hurt but both vehicles were damaged.

Monday, January 7

10:42 a.m. – 100 block of Talsman Dr., Thomas Brown, 33, of Kensington, and Keith Davis, 33, of Minerva, both charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said Davis admitted to having a marijuana pipe in the car during a traffic stop. The officer found other things used to create marijuana cigarettes in the car, according to a report. Brown told the officer he rolls his own marijuana cigarettes, police said.

3:59 p.m. – 400 block of W. Main St., Gary Fisher, 63, of Rogers, charged with drug abuse. Police smelled marijuana coming from Fisher’s car during a traffic stop, according to a report. The officer said Fisher admitted to smoking earlier in the day. According to the report, Fisher asked the officer, “Would you let me go if I just give you the weed in the car?” He then handed the officer a bag containing 10 grams of marijuana before the officer could answer, police said.

Wednesday, January 9

10:55 a.m. – 400 block of Hood Dr., reported theft of package from a front porch.
