Cannabis Conference talks lifestyle, business, and future of marijuana

Marijuana is already big businesses and with federal rules soon to be relaxed delegates at an expo in Vancouver this weekend think it could only get bigger.

Speaking at the Cannabis Life Conference at the Westin Bayshore, Bethany Rae with Flower & Freedom says cannabis has helped with her anxiety, but it also helps with her exercise and recovery.

“Research is suggesting that when we’re exercising, it’s not the endorphins that make us feel good, but it’s actually our body boosting and creating our natural endocannabinoid anandamide,” she told the crowd on Friday. “When I heard that for the first time, it really changed the way that I understood cannabis and exercise, that my body is actually boosting and giving me these feelings in a similar way that cannabis might.”

Jodie Emery also spoke Saturday afternoon at the conference. She and husband Marc were arrested in Toronto on their way to a cannabis conference in Spain in March. Their Cannabis Culture shops in Vancouver were raided by police. The business continues to operate.

Activist Dana Larsen will be talking about the history of cannabis in Canada.

The conference is on until 5pm. Topics yet to come cover sex and cannabis, as well as marijuana for pets.
