CBP Seizes Marijuana Hidden in Cargo at the Peace Bridge

BUFFALO, N.Y. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Peace Bridge seized a shipment which contained just over 7.5 pounds of marijuana on December 20.

CBP officers working at the Peace Bridge commercial warehouse targeted a shipment manifested as “stuffed animals.” Initial inspection of the shipment revealed cans labeled as meat products. When opened, no meat – but more than 7.5 pounds of marijuana.

“During the holiday season, CBP officers remain vigilant and work hard to keep our communities safe,” said Acting Port Director Cary Frieling. “Our officers’ experience, combined with the use of available tools, continues to keep dangerous drugs from entering our country.”

While anti-terrorism is the primary mission of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the inspection process at the ports of entry associated with this mission results in impressive numbers of enforcement actions in all categories.
