Colorado ‘Highly Desired’ Marijuana Sales Report Now Released Monthly

Colorado’s annual marijuana sales are on pace to reach an all-time high, according to a new monthly report published by the Colorado Department of Revenue (CDOR). Announced by the CDOR on Tuesday, Dec. 12, the Centennial State is reporting they’ve topped more than $4.2 billion in marijuana sales since 2014.

Convenient and concise, Colorado’s new monthly marijuana report delineates the state’s “gross marijuana sales minus wholesale sales.” Categorized as either recreational or medicinal, the state’s “historical” marijuana sales data will now be updated on the seventh business day of every month.

Mike Hartman, the CDOR’s executive director, explained the department’s intent in a press release.

“We know this information is highly desired by the public, media and researchers. To that end, in our efforts to be as transparent as possible, we will now provide aggregate sales data. That, coupled with the state tax revenue data already provided, will give an accurate picture of the financial footprint of this burgeoning industry.”

The state’s monthly marijuana sales data indicates their highest monthly retail sales came during August 2017 – when the Colorado marijuana industry sold $138,469,157 worth of recreational and medicinal products.
