Infuse Your Workout With Weed in 5 Legal States

Weed Workout

Tons of people out there still think that cannabis use is synonymous with laying on your couch and binging on Netflix and potato chips. But as cannabis becomes part of mainstream culture in legal states, there are fitness enthusiasts who are determined to flip the “lazy stoner” stereotype on its head and show that cannabis can be used as part of—and even enhance—an active lifestyle.

Find the Right Strain for Your Fitness Routine

One of the ways they’re doing it? Through awesome infused fitness classes and events in legal markets.

Round up a few pre-rolls and get your sweat (and smoke) on.

This cannabis-infused boot camp (where you’re sure to find Portlanders decked out in their best Fonda-inspired spandex, leotards, and leg warmers) plays host to some of Portland’s best fitness instructors and cannabis brands for a one-of-a-kind workout experience that will leave you sweaty and stoned.

The workouts at Mary Jane Fonda are no joke; most events feature at least two trainers leading participants through circuits, high intensity intervals, and cardio exercises meant to get the heart pumping. If you’re looking for a chill routine, MJF also offers “mind workouts” that combine meditation and a slow-flow yoga practice.

The 420 Games in California (various locations)

Running and cannabis go hand-in-hand (come on…haven’t you ever heard the term “runner’s high?”). And while you can certainly incorporate cannabis into your solo runs, if you want to get your run on with other weed-friendly running enthusiasts, you’re definitely going to want to check out the 420 Games.

According to their website, the 420 Games were “established to show that cannabis users are NOT lazy, unmotivated or ‘stoners’ and to de-stigmatize the millions who use cannabis in a healthy and responsible lifestyle.” Now in its fifth year, the 420 Games hosts annual events in Los Angeles and San Francisco where participants crush a 4.2-mile run. In addition, 420 Games has plenty of opportunities for weed-infused workouts, including pre and post-run yoga sessions, basketball tournaments, and other location-dependent events (the recent Los Angeles 420 Games featured a skate contest).

Canna-Practice at The Painted Yogi in Reno, Nevada

Reno, “The Biggest Little City in the World,” is known as a gambler’s paradise. But spending days on end in the casino can be intense—and for those looking for a break with weed-infused workouts, Canna-Practice at The Painted Yogi provides the perfect recharge.

Hosted at the River School Farm (which offers gorgeous views of the Truckee River), Canna-Practice brings the canna-community together to enjoy a combination of yoga and cannabis away from the bright lights and hectic energy of Reno proper. By the end of the practice, you’ll feel relaxed, refreshed, and definitely high.

420-friendly Yoga Retreat in Colorado (various locations)

If you’re looking for a getaway that combines stunning views, a decent sweat sesh, and plenty of cannabis, look no further than Colorado’s 420-friendly weekend yoga retreats hosted by a yoga/cannabis enthusiast dubbed “Yogi D.”

These 3-day retreats offer opportunities for participants to “get high in the Rockies” and “journey together into yoga, movement, massage, meditation, laughter, and good music.” Over the course of the weekend, you’ll relax through cannabis-friendly yoga classes (including a DJ’d Saturday night flow to help you drop into your practice) and a hike that offers epic views of the surrounding mountains.

If you haven’t already noticed from the other entries on this list, yoga and cannabis go together—as Forrest Gump would say—”like peas and carrots.” If you want to enjoy this epically relaxing one-two punch on your next visit to Washington, there’s no better place than Yogasmith.

This Seattle-based yoga studio offers “Cannabis Enhanced Yoga” on the second Sunday of each month at 4:20pm (well played, Yogasmith). According to the website, teachers ask that you arrive “pre-elevated” or, in other words, make sure to toke before you vinyasa.
