Maricopa man arrested for marijuana bites officer

MARICOPA — A man arrested for marijuana possession and threatening is now facing more charges after biting an officer.

On Dec. 6, Maricopa police officers responded to a call where a woman said a man was making threats to shoot her. The female victim was sitting in her car in her driveway when the incident happened, and said the man was unknown to her.

Police later made a traffic stop at the corner of Smith Enke and Porter roads where they discovered the man identified as Everton Williams, 30. Williams was in the passenger seat during the traffic stop.

Williams admitted to speaking to the female victim, but denied making threats.

When police approached the car, they noticed a strong odor of burned marijuana, and after searching the vehicle, they found marijuana in the passenger compartment.

Williams admitted the marijuana was for him and did not have a medical marijuana card. He was arrested and transported to the Pinal County Jail.

While in the vehicle, Williams became combative and started spitting. The officer pulled over the patrol vehicle and attempted to put a spit mask on Williams. Williams then bit the officer’s right middle finger.

He is currently at the Pinal County Jail on a $10,000 secured bond. He is charged with marijuana possession, threatening and aggravated assault.
