Marijuana, guns and cash seized from Ocala home

OCALA — Marijuana, gun, pills and a large amount of cash were seized from an Ocala home and one person was arrested Friday.

Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies went to the 13000 block of Southwest 77th Avenue after receiving information that marijuana was in the residence. Smelling the drug, deputies secured the home, ordered everyone outside and called the Unified Drug Enforcement Strike Team to investigate.

An agent arrived and got permission to enter the residence. Inside, the agent recovered $19,000 in cash that was in a bank bag and stored in a small fridge, 84 pills — consisting of oxycodone and alprazolam — 395 grams of marijuana, a plastic shopping bag that had various ammunition, a Taurus “The Judge” revolver, digital scale and drug paraphernalia.

Adeyemi David McEwen told the agent that the drugs, gun and other illegal items belong to him. A woman said the cash was hers, but it was taken and will be returned if she can prove it belongs to her.

McEwen was arrested and faces several charges to include possession of marijuana with intention to sell and possession of a gun while committing a felony. He was released Friday afternoon on $15,000 bond, according to Marion County Jail records.
