BOSTON — A pair of Randolph residents were convicted Thursday in U.S. District Court in Boston for shipping thousands of pounds of marijuana to Massachusetts from California, then distributing it throughout the Boston area.
Michael Gordon, 48, shipped the drugs through the U.S. Postal Service, the Boston Globe reported. Daphne Jean, 31, would rent apartments solely to receive shipments once they arrived from the West Coast. She would also launder the cash made from the sales of the drugs, according to prosecutors.
Officials said the two saw millions of dollars pass through their organization.
The illegal enterprise operated from roughly July 2011 to November 2014, according to authorities, who say the duo may have begun selling drugs before 2011.
Both were convicted of conspiracy to distribute marijuana, marijuana possession with intent to distribute and conspiring to launder drug money through real estate transactions.
Gordon was further convicted of conspiracy to distribute drugs and possession with intent to distribute more than 1,000 kilograms of marijuana, or more than 2,200 pounds.
They are scheduled to be sentenced March 26, when Jean could get up to 20 years in prison and Gordon could receive up to life.
