Two teens allegedly robbed weed dealer for marijuana

Two Bend teenagers were arrested for allegedly robbing a marijuana dealer for his drugs and dragging the dealer alongside their vehicle for a short distance Sunday, causing minor injuries, according to Bend Police.

Police arrived at 5:37 p.m. on Sunday in the 19000 block of Ashwood Drive after a Bend 16-year-old told them he had been robbed. The teenager told police he had plans with the two alleged robbers — one a Bend 17-year-old and the other Jarron Forbes, 18, of Bend — to sell them a “large quantity” of marijuana, Bend Police said in a press release.

After the marijuana was handed to Forbes and the 17-year-old, the pair allegedly refused to pay for the weed, and the 16-year-old attempted to take it back. Although he was unsuccessful, he was able to grab Forbes’ cellphone, the press release stated. After that, Forbes allegedly grabbed the 16-year-old’s arm and pinned it to the side of the 17-year-old’s Toyota RAV 4 while driving away.

The teenager was dragged by the moving vehicle for a short distance and suffered minor injuries, although he had not sought medical treatment by Tuesday, police said.

Later Sunday evening, the two alleged robbers drove back to the teenager’s home, and Forbes allegedly pointed a handgun at him, demanding the return of his cellphone, police said. The 16-year-old told Forbes he didn’t have it, so Forbes allegedly took the teenager’s phone and left.

On Monday, Bend Police found Forbes and arrested him on suspicion of first- and second-degree robbery, first-degree theft and recklessly endangering. The 17-year-old voluntarily met with detectives at the Bend Police Department and was arrested there on suspicion of first- and second-degree robbery, first-degree theft, recklessly endangering and reckless driving.

The juvenile suspect was taken to the Deschutes County Juvenile Department, and Forbes was taken to the Deschutes County jail.

According to the press release, detectives found that the handgun allegedly used by Forbes was likely a replica, but it has not yet been recovered as of Tuesday.
