The Weed Blog to Host Benefit for Cascade AIDS Project

The Weed Blog to Host Benefit for Cascade AIDS Project

On Wednesday, May 3rd, The Weed Blog will host a networking event to benefit an Oregon nonprofit.  This will be similar to the last networking event that we hosted, and will include a message from our nonprofit partner (The Cascade AIDS Project or CAP) as well as information from some of the leading brands in the Oregon cannabis industry.  Get tickets here.

A cash bar, appetizers, and raffle sales will also be included, including prizes from Portland Homegrown, Hifi Farms, Cascade High, Empower Bodycare, Tokeativity, Laurie + MaryJane, Cultivation Classic, Hermetic Botanicals, Coalition Brewing, and Zoe Wilder.  Raffle updates can be found here.

By partnering with CAP, a nonprofit organization outside of the cannabis sector, we are trying to pave the way for more legitimacy and normalization in our ever emerging and changing industry.  Please join us in doing so!

Tyler TerMeer is the Executive Director of CAP and said, “Cascade AIDS Project values the cannabis industry is an important member of Oregon’s business community, and we are hopeful about the opportunities that legalization has brought to us and those we serve. As a health service organization CAP has a keen interest in the health benefits of marijuana and specifically its ability to help long-term HIV survivors to cope with their symptoms. CAP is excited to be partnering with The Weed Blog and looks forward to other future partnership opportunities.”

We are thrilled to have their support and involvement in helping push the big wheel forward for the cannabis movement and industry here in Oregon and across the country!

Cascade AIDS Project, owner/founder of Laurie + MaryJane, was one of our raffle sponsors at our last event and has graciously donated a raffle prize again for this event.  Wolf explained, “It is too sad to count the number of friends I have lost to AIDS. Fundraisers like this help with the fight as well as let people know they have not been forgotten.”

Founded in 1983 and incorporated in 1985 as the Cascade AIDS Project, CAP is the oldest and largest community-based provider of HIV services, housing, education and advocacy in Oregon and Southwest Washington. CAP has grown considerably since its beginning, from a two person staff to over 60, from a budget of $100,000 to over $6 million. CAP operates multiple programs from its main service site with the support of over 600 volunteers.  Their mission is to prevent HIV infections, support and empower people living with or affected by HIV, and eliminate HIV-related stigma and health disparities, and they help people put their lives back together by securing housing, finding essential medical care, and dealing with the countless issues that make the difference between giving up or getting up and going on.

Learn more about the event here and see our get updates regarding tickets and raffle prizes on our Facebook Event Page.  Come join us and be a part of the change in the cannabis movement and industry!

*please note that no cannabis consumption or samples will be allowed at this event.
